Andrea Ballance BSW, RSW, MC, RCC

Andrea is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. Since 2013, she has gained extensive experience in non-profit organizations and community mental health settings, specializing in substance use and mental health counselling for individuals, families, and groups facing a variety of challenges.

Committed to a person-centered therapeutic approach, Andrea believes that every individual is the expert of their own experiences. She fosters a safe and non-judgmental environment, enabling her clients to explore their authentic selves and embark on personal healing journeys. With a focus on building trust and openness, Andrea understands that the therapeutic process is a collaborative effort, appreciating the unique narratives of those she supports.

Andrea utilizes an integrative approach to therapy, blending multiple modalities to meet the diverse needs of her clients. Her areas of expertise include trauma recovery, mental health disorders, substance use issues, relational conflict, and life transitions. By tailoring her interventions to align with each individual’s goals and unique experiences, Andrea empowers her clients to navigate their challenges more effectively.

In addition to her extensive experience, Andrea is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, an effective technique for trauma resolution. She also incorporates various therapeutic methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Response-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Polyvagal Theory. Additionally, she has completed Levels One and Two of Gottman Method Couples Therapy, equipping her to support couples in enhancing their relationships with research-based strategies.
