Individual Counselling
Clinical Counselling
That Is Personalized to You
You do not need to be in crisis or know exactly what you want to change before beginning counselling.
You may be struggling with a specific concern, feeling caught in a familiar pattern or simply recognizing that something in your life no longer feels right. Individual counselling provides a confidential space to understand what you are experiencing and explore what may help you move forward.
Individual clinical counselling is a collaborative process between you and a mental health professional with graduate-level education and supervised clinical training.
It offers an opportunity to talk openly about your thoughts, emotions, relationships and experiences without judgment or pressure. Counselling can help you understand what may be contributing to your current difficulties, recognize patterns that have developed over time and identify changes that feel meaningful to you.
Some people begin counselling because they are experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression or a difficult transition. Others want to understand themselves more clearly, strengthen their relationships, develop healthier boundaries or change patterns that no longer feel helpful.
You do not need to have a formal diagnosis or wait until your concerns become overwhelming to seek support.

Personal growth and greater self-understanding
You are welcome to begin counselling even if you are unsure how to describe what you are experiencing.
What Happens in Individual Clinical Counselling?
What is currently causing distress or feeling difficult to manage
Thoughts, emotions and physical responses connected to the concern
Experiences that may have shaped your present patterns
Triggers or situations that leave you feeling overwhelmed
Clinical counselling is personalized according to your experiences, needs and goals. Together, we may explore:
During your first sessions, we will discuss what has brought you to counselling, what you hope will be different and what kind of support may be most helpful. Together, we will develop a counselling plan based on your goals and review it as your needs change.
There is no expectation that you share everything at once. We will move at a pace that allows trust, understanding and meaningful change to develop.
Depending on your needs, counselling may include reflection, psychoeducation, emotional and nervous system regulation, practical skill development or processing difficult experiences.
Relationships, boundaries and communication
Beliefs you have developed about yourself
Coping strategies that may no longer be helping
Strengths and resources you can draw upon
Practical changes that support the life you want to build
A Personalized and Relational Approach
Clinical counselling should not feel like a standardized process that overlooks your individual story.
I offer a relational, person-centred and trauma-informed approach. Our work will be shaped by your goals while also considering your experiences, relationships, strengths and the context of your life.
When appropriate, I may integrate various approaches, we will decide together which approaches and strategies feel most relevant to you. You will remain involved in determining what we focus on and how quickly we move.
The goal is not to change who you are or suggest that you need to be fixed. It is to help you understand yourself with greater clarity, respond to difficulties more effectively and make choices that feel more consistent with your needs and values..
